Dashel is a music teacher and singersong rider who is happy to call the Inland Northwest home. He grew up in Germany and Reno, NV, but has lived most of his life in Seattle. He was always found onstage and enjoyed starring in many musicals and plays during high school and college. He holds a degree in theatre/playwrighting from the University of Puget Sound (2003) where he also studied music and classics. He wrote musicals which helped begin a thriving student theatre program at UPS. After mounting one of his shows on the Seattle fringe scene (The Spinning, 2007) and finding it immoral to ask participants to work for nearly nothing, he reduced the cast to himself and began writing and recording free range folk rock. He has released 12 albums, the latest of which are available on all digital media outlets; the rest are hidden somewhere at www.dashel.com.
Dashel performs in Spokane-area coffee shops, the Interstate Faire, and is a regular at the Okanogan Family Faire’s Solar Stage. He also hosts Magical Serialism, a somewhat-daily sampling of the strange wind that blows upon our luck, which is a facebook/youtube livestream where he uses music theory oracle cards to draw a song out of thin air.
Dashel joined the Imaginative Music Studio in 2018 after teaching private lessons as a side gig for years. He is grateful to have an important role in the lives of up-and-coming musicians from Spokane to Seattle, and teaches Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Voice, and Rock Band lessons. He’d like to thank Terra and Lila for being his whole wide world.
